Financial Resilience: A Way Forward Towards Economic Development in Developing Countries

Financial inclusion is a policy priority in both developed and developing countries. Yet almost one four people remain financially excluded around the globe, with vast majority living world. In this paper, we argue that financial resilience: an individual’s ability to function effectively adverse situations, can better help us assist cope adversity, develop effective and, ultimately, improve economic development. This paper builds on existing resilience measurement framework adapts it measure appropriate context of Indonesia, where three are excluded, used as case country from which draw conclusions. We use Indonesia Family Life Survey put forward country’s first snapshot resilience. Implications for research presented.
